More beautiful jewelry that is minimalist and modern but really speaks Byzantine to me. Let's just reiterate that I'm totally bias and instead of rose-coloured glasses, I see everything in Byzantine...coloured glasses. Ha.

It's hot and I'm trying to write my thesis with as little clothing on as remains decent - these pieces from Givenchy's Fall 2010 Couture collection that just showed in Paris is beautiful, but it's painful to imagine the poor models carrying the weight of them in this heat.
Forgive my very unglamorous iphone picture--I stopped by Holts today to visit a handbag I'm trying to make friends with. There's a sale going on there right now, so, of course, it's chaotic. Dries Van Noten, the season escapes me at the moment. Although I may not soon be able to wear a full dress of this elaborate stuff, I do love the little details on the cuffs and collars of some of the outfits. A little touch of Byzantium.
I have been lusting HARD over this Philip Lim dress/jacket; it's currently on sale at a fine boutique near me, but still far too much to justify when I've got my daughter's summer activities to register for tomorrow morning.

One doesn't need to be dressed in a period piece to be inspired by the glitz of imperial Byzantium.
Yes, I totally sound like a ego-maniacal...maniac, but seriously, after the crap-fest I went to, and the continued blank stare coupled with "What's Byzantium?" from all walks of life, someone needs to resurrect this bitch.
